MARKET STREET CONGREGATE SHELTER

Established 2021

Location: Inner SE Portland
Number of Beds: 100+

Sunstone Way’s first congregate shelter site hosts up to 120 individuals experiencing houselessness and offers 24/7 on-site staffing and support. In addition to sleeping facilities, showers, restrooms, and meal services, the Market Street Shelter provides the same innovative and comprehensive wrap-around support services that Sunstone Way is known for to all program participants. The goal, as is the case with all our sites, is to see participants progress on their self-determined course of action toward self-efficacy and independance.

  • A congregate shelter is a facility where individuals experiencing houselessness reside together in a shared space - in this case, in a large communal sleeping area with shared amenities. The Market Street Shelter acts as the primary entry-point for many Sunstone Way participants.

  • Our vision is to transform lives, communities and futures through holistic resource navigation.

Every participant who walks through a Sunstone Way shelter door has access to a variety of wrap-around services, including behavioral health care, case management, resource navigation, and peersupport. We pride ourselves on setting up each participant to have consistent and regular contact with a dedicated, compassionate, and trauma-informed team. This builds trust and sets a path for reducing stress and building resiliency, allowing them to move forward on the path to hope and housing.

  • We meet participants where they are - encouraging them as they set their own goals and supporting them as they work to accomplish those goals.

  • For those seeking emergency shelter, please call our Market Street Congregate Shelter  (971) 428-5497 to inquire about availability.
